The Dirty Femmes: A Celebration of the Violent Femmes was founded in 2012. It features Jen Korte, Andy Bercaw and Neil Mitchell and began as a one off show wherein they played the debut album in its entirety. Through happenstance, members of the Violent Femmes were alerted of the bands existence and they quickly became friends. 
Since forming the band, they have traveled with Gordon Gano of the Violent Femmes to the Caribbean for a tour in 2015, played Red Rocks, and opened for the actual Violent Femmes at Denver's Botanic Gardens in 2018. After having opened for the actual Violent Femmes, the band is considered retired but will come out on special occasions. 

The band has won Best Tribute Band of Denver in 2013 and Best Of Denver "Tribute Band" in 2014.
